Updating the value of a particular field in a document is incredibly simple with Studio 3T (formerly MongoChef). Thanks to our In-Place Editing feature, you can edit fields directly in-place in the Tree and Table views.

First, open your collection that contains the document to update, and then:

Tree View

  1. Select the field whose value you would like to update, and double-click its Value column.First step: double-click the field you want to edit
  2. This will bring up the in-cell editor for that field. Simply enter the new value directly in there. Second step: Begin editing!Third step: update the field valueFor more complex data types (such as dates), Studio 3T will also display a tooltip text that shows you as you type what your current input will evaluate to.For more complex fields, make use of the input type tooltip
  3. Hit Enter, and Studio 3T will update the field with the new value in its collection.Fourth step: Done!

Table View

  1. Select the field whose value you would like to update, and double-click its cell.Step 1: Double-click the field to activate the in-place editor
  2. As in the Tree View, this will bring up the in-cell editor for that field. Simply enter the new value directly in there.Step 2: Edit your chosen field in-placeStep 3: Type in the new field value
  3. Hit Enter, and Studio 3T will update the field with the new value in its collection.
Step 4: Press "Enter" and done!

And that’s it! As a helpful complement, I recommend reading our short guide on how to rename fields. Happy editing!
