Do you want more control over AI-powered query generation? Studio 3T 2024.5 introduces a temperature setting to AI Helper, which is better suited to writing query code and more accurate responses. We’ve also upgraded the AI models and you can now use Azure AI or GPT-4o. A new chat-based prompt allows you to ask multiple questions before using the responses in Studio 3T, providing a better user experience.

The New AI Helper
Developing queries in MongoDB is slow when you’re new to MongoDB and you’re learning to think in terms of data pipelines, or even if you’re more experienced but you’re unfamiliar with the arrays and nested objects in the datasets you’re working with.
The new prompt dialog in AI Helper makes it easier to build MongoDB queries, aggregation pipelines, or scripts by allowing you to keep asking questions. It enhances your experience by displaying a history of the questions you’ve asked and the corresponding responses from the AI model.
For each response, you can copy all the query code to the clipboard or get AI Helper to paste it directly into the query bar or code editor, depending on whether you’re using it within the Collection Tab or IntelliShell. If you’re using AI Helper within the Aggregation Editor, it can automatically create the stages of the aggregation pipeline for you.
We’ve introduced model customization options in the Preferences dialog. You can choose between Azure AI or the latest OpenAI model GPT-4o. To optimize responses for generating code, you can specify the temperature setting for the selected AI model. The default is Low (for accuracy) and you can adjust upwards as necessary (for creativity).
If required, you can now disable AI Helper and prevent interactions with the AI model.

Improvements in Studio 3T 2024.5
MongoDB Java driver upgrade
We’ve upgraded the MongoDB Java driver from version 4.7.2 to 5.2. This means that from Studio 3T 2024.5 we will no longer support connections to MongoDB versions earlier than 4.0. Newer MongoDB Java drivers allow us to provide better support for MongoDB 7.0 and MongoDB 8.0.
To ensure continued compatibility, please upgrade your MongoDB server to version 4.0 or later. If you’re unable to upgrade your MongoDB server, please contact our support team for assistance.
