Are you concerned about outdated authentication methods, leaving your organization vulnerable to security threats? Studio 3T 2025.6 adds OpenID Connect (OIDC) to the available authentication protocols in the Connection Manager. For instances of MongoDB 7.0 and later that have set up Workforce Identity Federation with OIDC, you can now configure your connections to seamlessly authenticate with your external Identity Provider (IdP).
Secure connections to MongoDB with OIDC
MongoDB has announced that starting with MongoDB 8.0, LDAP authentication is deprecated and will be removed in a future release.
Studio 3T now supports OpenID Connect (OIDC) so that you can connect to MongoDB using a modern authentication method that adheres to the best security practices, whether it be new for your organization, or for example, a migration from LDAP. OIDC simplifies user authentication with your existing identity providers and single sign-on (SSO).

Learn more about the security measures OIDC offers, how the authentication process works in Studio 3T, and how to set up an OIDC connection to MongoDB in our knowledge base article.
